Schlage BE365V CAM 619 Camelot Keypad Deadbolt Review
If you like the idea of a key-less deadbolt and want the simplicity of a simple key pad system, then this lock is for you. The BE365V provides the convenience of a high end keypad system, without the need for a smartphone or wireless network.
Benefits of the Schlage BE365V CAM 619
There isn’t a motor turning the deadbolt, it’s you!
Why do I label this as a ‘pro’? With a lot of the high end deadbolts using a motor to automatically unlock the door, you can run into problems if everything is not perfectly aligned. With this lock, not everything has to be perfectly aligned as the deadbolt works by you manually turning it. No more problems with the deadbolt refusing to lock or having to worry about whether or not your home is secure.
Only needed a screwdriver and less than 45 minutes to install and have operational.
Like most keypad locks, this one is also back lit, which makes for easier use at night.
I had picked mine up for less than $90, which makes it an ideal price point for my budget.
Less connections, longer battery life
Some may not like this, but since it can’t connect to wifi or have the ability to wirelessly communicate with other devices, the battery is undoubtedly going to last longer.
Drawbacks of the Schlage BE365V CAM 619
Be proactive with the battery
This would seem like common sense, but even if you purchase a different lock it is a good idea to be proactive about changing the battery, whether every 3 months, or every 6 months. The batteries can short out without notice, which isn’t the deadbolt’s fault, and leave you locked out of house.
Technical details and compatibility
Overall this lock is a buy. If you’re looking for a simple and affordable way to go keyless, this is your lock. Most problems that occur with the higher end ‘smart deadbolts’ have to do with the motor malfunctioning or improper alignment. With this lock, that problem is nonexistent. Simply said, this lock works and will work every time as long as the battery remains reliable. That is the only caveat, so as long as you change the battery every so often you shouldn’t have a problem.
